Derrick “Smoker” Freeman is a dynamic New Orleans-based percussionist, vocalist, emcee, DJ, podcast host, actor, and bandleader whose genre-defying career spans jazz, funk, hip-hop, and soul.
A longtime collaborator with Kermit Ruffins and founder of the Soul Brass Band, Freeman blends musical mastery with sharp social commentary and theatrical flair.
Freeman plays with musicians ranging from Angelika “Jelly” Joseph and Stanton Moore to Ivan Neville and Amina Scott.
Derrick specializes in luxury/private events, weddings, DJ/Emcee/Host Appearances, International Music Festivals.
