About Fick
Emma Fick was born in Covington, Louisiana in 1991. She has published three illustrated books: Snippets of Serbia, in 2015; Snippets of New Orleans, in 2017; and Border Crossings: A Journey on the Trans-Siberian Railway, in 2022. Her current work, all watercolor and ink on paper, centers on hybrids: merging Louisiana-specific symbols and ancient Byzantine frescoes; creating half-human half-bird mythological creatures; combining plant species in ways not found in nature. Her paintings explore cultural, biological, and floral hybrids and the endless permutations they allow.

Marianna Canu is a recognized, established artist, particularly in New Orleans, with growing international acclaim. She's an Italian-born, self-taught symbolic expressionist painter, poet and former jewelry designer who shifted her focus to painting in 2011. Born into a family of metal smiths, real estate developers, painters and entrepeneurs, her creative career spans several disciplines and decades. She is particularly known for her vibrant, expressive oil landscapes and figurative works that convey profound symbolic meaning and often include elements of surrealism.Her technique combines traditional oil painting with a modern, impressionistic touch, emphasizing bold brushwork , layered textures, and a vivid color palette to convey light, emotion, and movement.
