A Tribe Called Quest Tribute Band

Founded by New Orleans multi-hyphenate Derrick “Smoker” Freeman, Low End Theory Players is more than a tribute band—it’s a vibrant celebration of hip-hop’s golden era, reimagined through the lens of live instrumentation, jazz-infused grooves, and unapologetic funk.
What began as a one-night Halloween homage to Midnight Marauders quickly evolved into a full-scale movement, drawing packed crowds to venues like Tipitina’s and igniting nostalgia with a 20-song set that honors the legacy of Phife Dawg, Q-Tip, and the entire Tribe collective.Backed by a rotating cast of elite musicians—including members of Smokers World and Gravity A—the Players channel the spirit of Tribe while adding their own Crescent City swagger.

Their shows are high-energy experiences that bridge generations and genres, inviting audiences to relive the rhythms that shaped a cultural revolution.
Whether you’re a lifelong fan or new to the Low End, this is hip-hop with heart, history, and horns.
